<p>The <span data-start="4" data-end="54" style="">Missouri Eastern Railroad (reporting mark MER)</span> is a <span data-start="60" data-end="101" style="">Class III short-line freight railroad</span> in <span data-start="105" data-end="117" style="">Missouri</span> that began operations on <span data-start="143" data-end="160" style="">March 1, 2022</span> as a subsidiary of <span data-start="180" data-end="209" style="">Jaguar Transport Holdings</span>. It operates roughly <span data-start="231" data-end="246" style="">53–60 miles</span> of former <span data-start="257" data-end="302" style="">Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad</span> line in the <span data-start="315" data-end="346" style="">St. Louis metropolitan area</span>, running from near <span data-start="366" data-end="375" style="">Union</span> through <span data-start="384" data-end="393" style="">Vigus</span> to <span data-start="397" data-end="409" style="">Overland</span>, where it interchanges with the <span data-start="442" data-end="488" style="">Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis</span>. MER’s trackage includes rights over Union Pacific-owned sections and combines purchased and leased segments of the historic route. The railroad serves a diversified group of customers—such as producers of plastics, paper products, fly ash, building materials, and food products—and offers car storage, repair, and transload services. Its strategic location near multiple Class I connections, major highways, and the Mississippi River provides significant freight access for shippers and supports regional commercial and industrial development</p>
