How the index is organized
NORTH AMERICA

Explore freight activity across the network.

Commtrex organizes freight-network information geographically so shippers, providers, and site selectors can move from a region to the facilities, transportation connections, providers, and properties represented there.

What the numbers on this page count

Transload facilities
Listed transload facility records whose own address is in the region. Each links to that region’s transload hub.
Storage facilities
Listed rail-served railcar storage facility records located in the region.
Railcar lease listings
Railcars currently offered for lease, placed by the railcar’s current state or province. A listing is not a facility.

Each number counts one kind of record and is never added to another. Provider companies, service areas, ports, terminals, and properties are not counted here: a provider located in a region does not necessarily serve it, and a property is not an operating facility.

Regions with listed records link to the hubs that list them. Regions marked “Not yet represented” have no listed records in Commtrex yet — that is a gap in coverage, not a statement about the region.

FREIGHT DISCOVERY

Move from geography to freight context.

A region is a starting point, not a facility or a provider. From a state, province, or territory, follow what is documented there into the network.

  1. LOCATION

    A state, province, or territory.

  2. FREIGHT FACILITIES

Transload and storage facilities listed at an address in the region.

  3. TRANSPORTATION

Railroads, ports, terminals, and trucking connections documented in the network.

  4. PROVIDERS

Companies represented in the network. Where a provider is located is not where it serves.

  5. CAPACITY DISCOVERY

Request capacity from the providers that fit.

Documented vs. proximity

Documented
A relationship recorded for a record — a facility’s serving railroad, a terminal’s port, a provider’s stated service area.
Proximity
Geographic context only. Being near a rail line, a port, or a region’s border is not a documented connection.

Document the connection. Map the proximity. Keep the two distinct.
