<p>The <span data-start="4" data-end="53" style="">Cimarron Valley Railroad (reporting mark CVR)</span> is a <span data-start="59" data-end="100" style="">Class III short-line freight railroad</span> operating about <span data-start="117" data-end="139" style="">254 miles of track</span> through parts of <span data-start="157" data-end="191" style="">Kansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado</span>, headquartered in <span data-start="210" data-end="229" style="">Satanta, Kansas</span>. It was formed in <span data-start="248" data-end="256" style="">1996</span> when it acquired former Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway lines and runs southwest from <span data-start="349" data-end="383" style="">Dodge City, Kansas, to Satanta</span>, where the route splits with one branch continuing to <span data-start="438" data-end="462" style="">Boise City, Oklahoma</span>, and another to <span data-start="479" data-end="504" style="">Springfield, Colorado</span>. The railroad primarily hauls <span data-start="535" data-end="563" style="">agricultural commodities</span> such as wheat, corn, milo, and related products, along with fertilizer, chemicals, sand, and other goods, serving rural shippers and interchanging with <span data-start="716" data-end="732" style="">BNSF Railway</span> at Dodge City. Over the years it has received state and federal grants for locomotive and infrastructure upgrades to enhance service and efficiency. In <span data-start="885" data-end="893" style="">2020</span>, CVR was purchased by <span data-start="916" data-end="945" style="">Jaguar Transport Holdings</span>, reflecting continued investment in the line’s operations and regional freight capacity.</p>
