There are three main cost components of a qualification event: cleaning, repair, and the qualification inspection itself.

The cost variability comes in the repair category. As cars age, they generally become more expensive to repair. Consequently, the 1^st qualification event is less expensive than the 2nd qualification event, and so forth.
